OpenAI's ChatGPT New Web Crawler - GPTBot and It’s Already a Problem
OpenAI has launched GPTBot, a web crawler that feeds content to ChatGPT, site owners can now check if GPTBot is indexing their pages and restrict access via robots.txt.
Have you already heard about GPTBot, OpenAI's new web crawler hungering for content to feed ChatGPT? Well, now you can peek behind the curtain to see if this AI bot is noshing on your site.
Just mosey on over to OpenAI's nifty GPTBot dashboard to check if your pages are being slurped into its database. You can even see how often GPTBot is hitting your site up. Kinda wild to imagine an AI ingesting your content, right?
If you're feeling weird about an algorithm munching your pages without permission, no worries! You can just block the sneaky bot with a quick robots.txt file on your site. GPTBot will respect the "No Trespassing" sign and stay clear.
Official documentation tells how to block the crawler via robots.txt
Thanks, Open AI for giving us the option to opt out!

I've written before how it seems every other day there’s an AI startup raising a massive round with unicorn valuations.
Yet, most of these startups don’t create AI — they just implement AI. That’s useful for users, but is neither defensible nor sustainable for the startup.
And it really doesn’t make for a good investment.
Sure smells like a new AI bubble to me.
