Nvidia Unveils Smallest AI Supercomputer
At his nearly two-hour keynote address Monday, kicking off CES 2025, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang introduced Project Digits, a computational system designed for AI research and development. Nvidia’s device represents a focused approach to providing advanced computing capabilities for professionals.
So yes, it's not a gaming PC or a competitor for the fresh Mac Mini.
Running on a Linux-based Nvidia DGX OS, Project Digits supports standard frameworks like PyTorch and Python. The system can manage AI models with up to 200 billion parameters, with potential expansion through dual-system configurations.

The platform integrates the Nvidia GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip, combining a 20-core Grace CPU with a Blackwell architecture GPU. Its technical profile includes 128GB of unified memory, up to 4TB of NVMe storage, and computational capacity approximating one petaflop.
Unlike traditional Nvidia GPUs, Project Digits is not consumer-oriented at all. The company claims that researchers in machine learning, scientific computing, and advanced computational domains will find the platform suitable for model training, complex simulations, and computational research.
Priced at $3,000, Digits is scheduled for release in May 2025. The device will be available through direct NVIDIA sales channels and select professional partners.
Nvidia clearly doesn't want to lose its status as a major player in the AI hardware market. The way it's maintaining it is also impressive.
While the $3,000 price tag might put some people off, you'll realize how interesting it is if you examine Digits' potential capabilities. This is truly the next step in the democratization of artificial intelligence.

More Nvidia-Related News
Nvidia didn't limit itself to Project Digits during CES 2025. Here are some other important news and announcements brought to us by the company:
Jensen Huang stated that Nvidia's AI chips are improving faster than Moore's Law. That law, developed by Intel co-founder Gordon Moore, predicted that the number of transistors on computer chips would roughly double every two years, essentially doubling the performance of those chips. But AI is breaking that paradigm.
Nvidia has partnered with Inworld AI and Streamlabs to showcase Intelligent Streaming Assistant. This is an AI assistant for streamers that provides technical support for live streaming and acts as a co-host.
The company launches Cosmos World Foundation Model Platform. This platform is for accelerating physical AI development, particularly for robotics and autonomous vehicles. It allows developers to generate massive amounts of physics-based synthetic data for training and evaluating models. The models will be available under an open license.
The Release of GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs. The latest generation of Nvidia's graphics cards, built on the new Blackwell architecture. These GPUs offer unprecedented performance for gaming and, of course, AI applications.
Google Tests AI-Powered 'Daily Listen' Podcasts
Google has launched a new AI-powered feature called Daily Listen in its Search Labs experimental program. The feature generates a personalized five-minute podcast based on a user's Google Discover feed and search history. Available exclusively to U.S. users on Android and iOS, Daily Listen creates a concise audio overview of news stories tailored to individual interests. The AI-generated podcast includes a text transcript and links to related stories, allowing you to explore topics further.
You can try Daily Listen through the Google app by enabling the Search Labs experiment.
WSJ: Anthropic Raises $2B at $60B Valuation
The Wall Street Journal reports that Anthropic, one of OpenAI's main competitors, is in talks to raise $2B at a valuation of $60B. It would make the company the fifth most valuable U.S. startup after SpaceX, OpenAI, Stripe, and Databricks. If the information holds, the round comes just a few months after the previous investment. In November 2024, Anthropic raised $4B from Amazon.
Anthropic was one of my major discoveries of 2024. This startup managed not only to keep up with competitors like OpenAI and Google but sometimes even outperformed them.
Based Hardware Introduced AI Gadget Called 'Omi'
Nvidia wasn't the only one making important AI announcements during CES 2025. Startup Based Hardware shared its own vision of what modern AI gadgets should look like. Called Omni, the AI device attaches to the side of your head with medical tape and uses a “brain interface” to understand when you're talking to the AI. The Omi device itself is a small round ball.
Here's what it looks like:
The consumer version will go on sale for $89 in the second quarter of 2025. The developer version is already available for $70.

OpenAI Now Lets You Customize Interactions with ChatGPT
OpenAI has introduced a new way to customize how you interact with ChatGPT. You can now specify a preferred name or nickname, your profession, and other things ChatGPT should know about. The company also offers several “trafts” options, including “Chatty,” “Encouraging,” and “Gen Z.” Depending on what you choose, the AI will adapt its behavior and tone of voice.
Although this is a small update, I think many users will enjoy these features. If the AI is more personalized, it will be easier for us to see it as a friendly assistant.
xAI Releases Grok's App for iOS
xAI has released a standalone iOS app for its Grok AI chatbot in the United States. The Grok app features real-time information retrieval from the web and the X platform, along with image generation capabilities. The company says it is designed to engage users with a conversational and humorous tone while prioritizing privacy in interactions. Unlike its previous availability, which was limited to X Premium subscribers, Grok is now accessible to all users at no cost.
An Android version has yet to be announced.
