Hello and welcome to our weekly roundup!
It seems like a great day to avoid discussing tariffs, doesn't it? Especially since we have a lot of less controversial news today. Let's talk about them.
And thankfully, we're slowly moving out of the world of Ghibli characters. But if you still want to play around with the topic, starting this week, the image generation with ChatGPT is available to free users.
Here's how to use generation limits practically:

OpenAI & Anthropic Dive Into Education
OpenAI and Anthropic unveiled educational initiatives this week, targeting college students in the U.S. and Canada. OpenAI announced on Thursday that its ChatGPT Plus service, typically $20 per month, is now free for students through May 31.
Just a day earlier, Anthropic introduced “Claude for Education,” a specialized plan designed to enhance learning in higher education. Both moves signal fierce competition to capture the academic market ahead of final exams.
OpenAI’s offer provides students access to tools like GPT-4o, image generation, voice interaction, and the Deep Research feature, which can analyze academic papers and synthesize information. The company promises to support students during a critical time. Eligibility is open to full- and part-time students at degree-granting institutions.
Verification is handled through SheerID, and the subscription activates for two months from the claim date, aligning with finals season.

Meanwhile, Anthropic’s Claude for Education brings a unique “Learning Mode” that uses Socratic questioning to guide students through problem-solving rather than offering direct answers. The plan integrates with platforms like Canvas and has secured full-campus agreements with Northeastern University, the London School of Economics, and Champlain College.
It’s also available to Pro users with an .edu email.
Both companies are positioning their tools as essential for modern education. OpenAI highlights ChatGPT Plus as a productivity booster, while Anthropic emphasizes Claude’s role in fostering critical thinking. Considering over a third of college-aged American adults already use ChatGPT, these news seem like logical initiatives.
While we're not OpenAI or Anthropic, we too have a little insight into how to use AI tools in learning (suitable for more than just students):
News Of The Week 🌍
Midjourney Launches V7 with Personalization and Draft Mode
Midjourney released its V7 model, the company’s first new AI image model in nearly a year. Now in alpha testing, V7 features a new architecture and improved text prompt comprehension. Personalization is active by default, requiring users to rate 200 images to tailor the model to their preferences. A Draft Mode offers faster image generation at half the cost.
Midjourney plans weekly updates over the next two months. CEO David Holz noted it’s a distinct model and advised users to adjust prompt styles.
Microsoft Releases Its Own AI Search Engine
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Microsoft decided to remind everyone that it is still playing in the search engine market. The company has released its Copilot Search. It pulls data from sources all over the web and then uses Copilot's AI capabilities to synthesize summaries for you. The feature works on the same principle as Google AI Overview or Bing AI Search.
You can try it here.

OpenAI Invests in Adaptive Security to Combat AI Threats
OpenAI has made its first investments in cybersecurity. TechCrunch reports that the company has led a $43M A series for Adaptive Security. It’s a New York-based cybersecurity firm specializing in AI-driven social engineering prevention. Founded in 2023, the startup develops platforms that train employees to recognize sophisticated AI-generated phishing and deepfake attacks.
Amazon Reveals Nova Act Agent for Web Automation
Amazon has introduced Nova Act, an AI model designed to perform tasks within web browsers autonomously. Developed by Amazon's AGI Labs, Nova Act enables you to automate online shopping, form-filling, and reservations. The model is accessible through the Amazon Nova website, where developers can experiment with the Nova Act SDK to create agentic applications.
OpenAI's GPT-4.5 Outperforms Humans in Turing Test
In a study awaiting peer review, OpenAI's GPT-4.5 demonstrated human-like conversational abilities by passing a three-party Turing test. Participants engaged in five-minute text-based conversations with both a human and GPT-4.5 and then identified which interlocutor they believed to be human.
When GPT-4.5 was prompted to adopt a specific persona, it was recognized as human 73% of the time, surpassing the actual human participants.
We should not forget that the Turing test was created in the middle of the last century and did not consider modern models’ capabilities. So, I wouldn't jump to conclusions about the superiority of AI (at least, right now).
