I bet many of us were watching OpenAI drama this weekend 📺🍿
To quickly recap for those who weren’t caught in the drama loop and enjoyed their weekends!
Here's a brief explanation of what's happened:
CEO Sam Altman, to his surprise, was fired from OpenAI by the board on Friday night; then-Greg Brockman, the President, was expelled from the board and later tendered his resignation.
Over the weekend, speculation intensified about Altman potentially making a comeback, but OpenAI ultimately appointed former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear as the new CEO.
Late on Sunday night, Satya Nadella revealed through a tweet that Altman and Brockman and their colleagues would be joining Microsoft.
Today, more than 600 employees of OpenAI signed a letter saying they may quit and join Sam Altman at Microsoft unless the startup’s board resigns and reappoints the ousted CEO.
Microsoft Emerges as the Winner in OpenAI Chaos
Microsoft has hired OpenAI cofounders Sam Altman and Greg Brockman to head a new advanced AI team, acquiring one of the most successful management groups in the AI industry.
Probably, there's a lot of things still going on…. Anyways!

Now, let’s get down to our business. DevDay happened two weeks ago and opened up new opportunities for creators & makers. So, it's time to do a quality recap!
Here's what I figured out from DevDay
• The introduction of GPT-4 Turbo showcased a significant leap in AI efficiency with a 128K token context window, improved affordability, and features like function calling and JSON mode. It optimizes performance with a 3x reduction in input token prices and a 2x reduction in output token prices compared to standard GPT-4.
• The Assistants API is designed for building sophisticated AI applications, while custom GPTs and the GPT Store create a collaborative AI marketplace. This feature allows developers to craft intricate, agent-like applications with capabilities such as Code Interpreter and Retrieval for dynamic code execution and improved responses. Notably, it supports persistent conversation threads, providing interaction continuity—ideal for complex customer service or educational platforms. This API marks the next era of advanced AI capabilities.
• The introduction of Custom Models represents a notable leap forward, providing precise control over AI behavior and introducing the innovative Copyright Shield service to enhance privacy. Specifically designed for organizations with extensive proprietary datasets, these models offer tailored AI solutions. Collaborating with OpenAI researchers allows for profound customization at each step of the training process, enabling businesses to effortlessly integrate AI into their workflows and gain a competitive edge.
Opting for custom models ensures exclusive access, preventing the sharing or reusing of proprietary training data. Tailored for enterprises requiring AI capabilities beyond standard fine-tuning, this program addresses unique needs. While custom models may be a pricier option, they cater to organizations with substantial AI budgets, unlocking advanced and exclusive AI capabilities.

So, ChatGPT Plus users now have the ability to craft personalized GPT chatbots that other Plus subscribers can engage with. Initially, I perceived GPTs as merely ChatGPT in a sophisticated disguise—a stylish cover for a standard GPT-4 with predefined prompts.
Upon delving deeper, I'm starting to discern elements beyond my initial impression. The amalgamation of features they offer has the potential to yield intriguing and noteworthy outcomes. This could be compared with ChatGPT Plugins (I believe they failed), but this time with a lower barrier for creators.
Also, notice that this should drive the ChatGPT Plus subscriptions event, though Open AI claimed they are stopping new users from onboarding due to volumes.
Once again. What are GPTs?
GPTs, AI agents developed by OpenAI, allow customization for specific tasks without the necessity of coding, thereby making AI more accessible and applicable for daily use. These agents provide personalized solutions, ranging from productivity enhancements to facilitating learning, and open avenues for the creation of user-driven AI applications.
